The last era we talk about is the Twentieth Century (二十世紀 from 1900). It can also be called the Modern.

As some of the early 20th century music can be seen as the extensions of the late Romantic style, much of 20th century music can be seen as a rebellion.

Composers did not build on what was standard but tended to created music freely and used sounds that went against the current grain.

Bartok, Bela (1881-1945), Britten, Benjamin (1913-1976), Stravinsky, Igor (1882-1971) were three composerd of this era.
